18th birthday card

It seems ages since I posted anything - just keep forgetting!
This afternoon I made a card for an 18th birthday for a Tottenham Hotspurs supporter. Their colours are mainly white with a touch of navy blue - not very exciting so I added some gold.
The image was a digi I purchased then coloured with Promarkers. I then used a lot of gold and navy mountings with metal gold lettering for his name and gold painted chipboard for his age and the Spurs symbol - hope he likes it!

Vilma's card

I was asked to make a card for an 80 year young ballroom dancer so I chose this pretty decoupage from Jolly Nation. The colour of the dress dictated the colour scheme so I thought a soft peachy, apricot would go well with the light teal. The colours look softer in real life - scans always seem to emphasise them.
The flowers are made from Nellie Snellen embossing punches joined with Pinflair glue - the first time I had used either - and I am pleased with the way they turned out.

Emma's birthday

Here is another birthday card I have made - we have so many family birthdays in May! I could not find the inks I wanted so had to settle for this Kaleidocolour one but it turned out quite prettily - just not what i had in mind at all.

more cards to make

I will show you the card I made for Emma (James's mum) tomorrow and I have just received an order for a 70th birthday card for a lady who likes ballroom dancing - should be able to make a lovely card with that theme. I also have to stamp and paint a batch of 15 cards for a lovely lady in US who runs a dog rescue centre. She buys cards from me regularly to send to the dogs (or the owners!) she has rehomed - such a lovely idea. I'll scan some of those too - they are Penny Black images and just delightful.

Clare's birthday

Here is another family birthday card - this time for my daughter-in-law, Clare. She is doing an energetic keep fit routine at the moment so I thought this decoupaged image was appropriate. The tiny buttond toned really well with the papers.

James's birthday

Lots of family birthdays this month and here is the card I made for my grandson, James. The image is a decoupage and the gromit is in toning colours.

Max's birthday card

It was my partner's grandson's first birthday recently and this is the card I made for him. He has a toy giraffe so I thought I would stamp and colour one with Promarkers. I triple mounted it and then stuck it onto textured green card like grass.

Birthday card

This is the card I made for Tony's birthday tomorrow. He loves garden gnomes but I won't let him put any in our garden so I thought I would stitch him one instead.
The pattern was one I bought from Stitching Cards and I stitched him in various colours of metallic thread. After I had mounted him on toning cards and paper I thought he looked a bit bland so I coloured him with chalks and added some toning black and blue ribbons. Hope he likes him!

Blue and Yellow Bear

This is my entry for the latest competition at Daisy Doodles, which had to include a bear. I used the bear that they sent me for entering their previous one which was very appropriate for the current weather.
I coloured my bear with Promarkers and this was the very first time I had ever used them so it was a learning experience! After that I just 3D mounted him on toning papers and added pearl raindrops and some ribbon. It is a very simple card but I rather liked the colours and was quite pleased with the result - hope you like him too.

birthday card

Oh dear - I have had problems with the internet but it seems to be ok at the moment so I'll give it a try.
This is a 21st birthday card I made for a girl who likes shoes.

The card is very 3D so the image is a little fuzzy as I scanned it - should have taken a photo but too late now.
The background is a cream textured paper that I printed before adding the black swirls on top. The shoe and bag are diecuts which have been decorated with flowers and peel offs. The name was originally pink and the numbers were diamonte but I coloured them both with acetate pens to tone with the card. Finally I added two shoe charms with black ribbon. Just hope she likes it!

Wowee - I won!!!

I can't believe this - I won the very first challenge I have ever entered. Talk about beginner's luck! The prize was some digital stamps of tulips - just perfect for my Easter cards.
The next challenge has to have a bear in it - I am not good at colouring bears but I'll give it a go and will post my effort later this week.
I have some cards to scan and post later today so you can see what I got up to over the weekend.

My very first post

Tammy suggested I start a blog and I haven't a clue what I am doing - just following the general instructions. Maybe I'll be able to make it look pretty one day.
Today I made a black and white card for a competition at Daisy Doodles and I had to use a digital stamp of a dragonfly. I found it hard not to use pretty colours so I settled for some texture instead and used black, velvet paper for the bullrushes and made the dragonflies 3D. This is not a colourful way to start a blog but it is the only card I made today.

I ordered a couple of new stamps from Onyx Expressions as they had greyhounds in them and I make cards for my son's rescue greyhound charity. He has 3 large dogs in a small flat so he must love them very much!
